Nemours is seeking a Specialty Nurse to join our team in Paoli, PA.
This position is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in the primary and specialty pediatric practices according to ambulatory nursing standards of practice. The position is responsible for triaging phone calls, patient flow, and assisting providers as necessary with examinations, procedures and administration of immunizations which are adapted to the patient's developmental stage. Coverage at other Nemours locations may be required.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs patient assessments.
Performs and documents patient intake (height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, vision and hearing screening, reason for visit, chief complaint).
Assists providers with procedures, including but not limited to, suturing, suture removal, sterile procedures, minor surgical procedures, allergy testing, and ophthalmology testing.
Performs phlebotomy, via venipuncture or capillary techniques, to obtain blood specimens. Transcribe, collect, label and arrange transport for lab specimens. Performs back office laboratory tests.
Delivers and documents patient education/teaching.
Performs appropriate quality control on lab equipment.
Monitors and ensures patient safety and office cleanliness and security.
Monitors waiting room and keeps patient informed as to schedule delays.
Participates in the departmental and system wide quality assessment and improvement activities.
Knowledge, Education, and Training
Three years of related clinical experience
Active Pennsylvania (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure Required
Additional state licensure will be required as determined
Active BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
Prior pediatric nursing experience necessary
