Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, NP/PNP - Pediatric Palliative Care
Medical Center (Charlottesville, VA)
Candidates without an acute care pediatric certification will be required to obtain this certification within four years of hire.
Provide palliative care for children and families of children facing chronic, complex, life-threatening and/or life-limiting conditions, at various locations (PICU, NICU, Acute Care Pediatrics, and outpatient clinics as needed) within the flow of patient care.
Participate in comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluation of patients and families, skilled pain and symptom management, and discharge planning; providing continuity of care.
Conduct comprehensive, focused assessments of children and families with palliative care needs.
Formulate, implement, monitor, evaluate and modify palliative care plans with input from palliative care team and other collaborating providers.
Assist in all facets of care coordination for palliative care referrals, i.e. working with hospices in the community and acting as a resource for clinical information and education as requested by community agencies.
Participate in palliative care research, including quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Engage in quality improvement in patient care services and department functions, including evaluating the effectiveness of program’s ability to meet the healthcare needs pediatric palliative care patients and families.

Position Compensation Range: $77,937.60 - $124,696.00 Annual
Education: Master of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program.
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Licensed to prescribe medication in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking/bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
